At the February WSBCA meeting we formally organized a crime watch committee within the WSBCA. The focus of this committee will be to address the issues of crime in Warm Springs, and work towards specific goals to help combat it. A tentative list of topics were established, listed below, with the goal of bringing these ideas to the City Council or Police Dept.

  • Proactively recruit more Neighborhood Crime Watch (NCW) Groups - Proposal: The city should establish a goal, something like 50% adoption, and be VERY strong on the PR around it (perhaps it could help to counter the effects of the "verified alarm" PR mess).
  • Analyze Fremont stats for NCW effectiveness - if NCW is not measurably effective, figure out why.
  • Develop program for existing NCW groups to adopt neighboring street(s)
  • Utilize surplus police vehicles to stage in neighborhoods
  • Have officers do their paperwork in varied locations - spread their visibility
  • Allow community groups to use Community Center for free - for community-focused meetings
